Rush is my favorite band of all time. They are superb both musically and lyrically. As a drummer, I've found inspiration in Neil Peart's playing. As a human, I've found much more inspiration in his words. Neil Peart is my favorite lyricst / author / poet. If you are interested in music that actually says something, you owe it to yourself to listen to Rush. It was 1980 when I first read the lyrics to "Freewill." Immediately, I realized this wasn't any ordinary rock band but something much more. This was something Extraordinary.

Many world renound musicians cite RUSH as their primary influence. One band that has been heavily influenced by Rush is Dream Theater.

Dream Theater is a band for the 90's and "00's" who is heavily influenced by Rush, Yes and others portraying excellent musicianship and and complex arrangements.  If you're a Rush fan but are unfamiliar with Dream Theater, do yourself a favor and check them out! Greg's Dream Theater Page.
